Fingertips are used to feel and interpret a combination of raised dots. Braille is becoming more prominent in the community and can be found on public signage, elevator buttons and amenities. If you're having difficulties with interpreting print, Braille may be the answer.
Our Braille programs are structured and age-appropriate. Clients learn to write Braille using a Perkins Brailler (similar to a typewriter) and are introduced to the slate and stylus (a portable note book and pencil-like device). Programs combine training in reading and writing and includes Grade 1 and Grade 2 Unified English Braille (UEB). Training can also be provided to your family members.
